A calendar contest for pets photographed in their Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair is sweeping the U.S. and abroad, as 136 dogs and one lamb vie for 13 coveted spots in the 2017 www.HandicappedPets.com calendar.
Pets from 34 states and 14 countries are competing for the chance to be featured, and the general public gets to vote for their favorites.
Winners for the coveted annual calendar slots are determined by open public voting during the month of August on the company’s Facebook page, with a final determination by HandicappedPets.com staff.
Voting closes at 5 p.m. Wed., Aug. 31.
Winners will be announced in September, with an expected calendar launch in mid-November. To view the roster of contestants and cast a vote(s), go to: www.facebook.com/HandicappedPets.
Contestants are using the Walkin’ Wheels wheelchair for a variety of reasons, including mobility losses due to the natural process of aging, disease, birth defects, injuries, or accidents. Whatever the reason, the cart allows them to become mobile again, giving them the chance to run around and do what dogs (and lamb!) do best. The ability to be mobile and get exercise can often significantly extend their lives, giving pet owners a welcome option to euthanasia.
