Petco launches July in-store events with Olympian Gus Kenworthy

Petco will be holding a series of family-friendly, national in-store events happening in July to help nurture the bond between pets and pet parents.

The roster of seasonal events will kick-off with Olympic silver medalist Gus Kenworthy, who will be making an in-store appearance at the Union Square Petco store in Manhattan on Sat., July 9 to celebrate “Adoptions at Petco,” where Petco and Unleashed by Petco locations nationwide will all host adoption events.

In support of the adoption festivities, Petco has released a new video in the “Think Adoption First” series, starring Kenworthy. The Olympic and X Games medalist has gained prominence both for his accomplishments on the slopes as well as his passion for animal welfare. The new video chronicles Kenworthy’s efforts to encourage pet parents to consider adopting a pet in need instead of purchasing one.
In addition to the adoption events, Petco will showcase a series of family friendly in-store events throughout the month including:

--Craft Inspired by Disney Family’s A-Dory-ble Jars: Customers can create a memory inspired by Disney/Pixar’s beloved Finding Dory at Petco’s free in-store craft event. Pet parents can partake in the fun while also learning about the excitement and responsibility of fish ownership. Date: Sat., July 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. local time.

--Reptile Rally: Head to your nearest Petco for a celebration of reptiles, arachnids and amphibians. Families can get to know these fascinating companions during a “Reptile Meet and Greet” and learn useful care tips from knowledgeable Petco partners. Families can share all the fun on their social channels using #ReptileRally. Date: Sat., July 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. local time.

--Meet the Critters: Families can learn all about small animals and birds during the Meet the Critters event. Petco experts will share tips on how to responsibly care for these wonderful companion animals. Date: Sat., July 30 and Sun., July 31 from 1 to 3 p.m. local time.
