A Thanksgiving ‘Blessing Of The Animals’ Nov. 22 in Manhattan

In the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals, the Unitarian Church of All Souls, Manhattan will celebrate its 15 annual “A Thanksgiving Blessing Of The Animals” service in the church sanctuary 3 p.m. Sun., Nov. 22.

The celebration will include music, readings and a short homily by Joseph Boyd. 

The highlight of the service will be the "Blessing of the Animals" when attendees are invited along with their pets to be blessed. Participants are invited to bring a photo or stuffed animal for this pets that cannot attend the service.

All animals must be either in carriers or leashed. 

A freewill offering will be donated to the Animal Assisted Therapy programs of the ASPCA and “Angel On A Leash.”
