Animal Care Centers of NYC launches adoption ambassadors program

Animal Care Centers of NYC announced it will be participating in the ASPCA Adoption Ambassadors program, which empowers volunteers to help pets find homes while at the same time allowing animals to avoid the stress of shelter life until they are adopted.

The program targets animals for placement that are often uncomfortable and stressed in the shelter environment and are thus unable to show their true personality to potential adopters.

ACC Volunteers will be fully trained in the program, including how to screen adopters and complete the adoption paperwork. They will be given marketing materials specific to each pet, “adopt-me-vests” and a foster kit with food, toys and bedding. The program pilot will focus initially on dogs, but will eventually include cats.

An adoption ambassador foster orientation is scheduled for Sat., Oct. 24 at ACC headquarters located at 11 Park Place (off Broadway).

To sign up for this orientation, please visit www.nycacc.org/fosters.htm.
