The Halfway Hounds will hold its sixth annual Doggy Derby, a fundraising luncheon on Kentucky Derby Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 2 at the Clinton Inn Hotel.
Participants can dine while enjoying music, games, derby day hat contests, a dog fashion show, activities for children, a tricky tray and silent auction. The event will feature guest WAXQ-FM (104.3) on air-personality Maria Milito.
“Last year was my first Doggy Derby and I was blown away by how well-organized it was. I have never seen so many prizes; catering to all different tastes (I even won one!),” said Milito. “I have a soft spot for HH as the president, Carl Zive, helped my rescue Fredo become the dog he is today: a happy and confident dog who can now go to daycare!”
Halfway Hounds is a volunteer-based non-profit organization that assists dogs that can no longer be kept at a shelter or veterinary hospital by providing temporary boarding until the dog is adopted.
The hotel is at 145 Dean Drive, Tenafly.
Tickets are $25 to $50; reservations can be made at www.halfwayhounds.org.
